E. Penny Jacobo, LCSW
Specializing in Older Adults
My goal is to educate professionals and empower them to tackle the various issues that older adults and their loved ones often face: elder abuse and neglect, caregiver stress and burnout, and mental health issues. All with compassion and respect.
Training and Consulting
When you or your organization needs training or guidance on how to handle Elder Abuse or Neglect, contact an expert.
Individual Therapy
I offer individual therapy via 2 platforms: Rula and BetterHelp
I am most comfortable with treating any kind of anxiety disorder, mood disorders including Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorders, and trauma-related issues including PTSD, and dissociative issues. I am also comfortable with treating women with Post-partum issues including depression and anxiety.
I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, depending on the client. I work with clients to identify cognitive distortions and change them. I also believe that taking the time to pause and be present at the moment is crucial to creating insight into our lives and our problems. For those with addiction issues, I focus on how addiction affects their lives, what changes they are ready to make, and help with their unique journey to the end goal they choose.
My Story
From an early age, I have wanted to work with older adults. I have always felt incredibly comfortable around older adults and am passionate about preventing and mitigating the effects of elder abuse and neglect.
About Me
I obtained my LCSW license in 2017 but have been involved in work with older adults since my undergraduate program. I have experience volunteering with hospice and extensive experience working in Adult Protective Services as a case worker as well as a Training Supervisor. Additionally, I have experience working with adults with serious mental illness in the criminal justice system and also currently provide individual therapy to adults.

My Values
I believe in finding the balance between adults' right to self-determination and their safety. I believe in providing compassionate, client-centered services in a culturally appropriate manner. It is essential to establish a trusting, safe relationship between a client and the service provider before anything else can successfully be accomplished.
